  1. Excellent point about don’t won’t Intel but won’t be earlier adopter, this could lead to a quiet period. For me this is my situation, I would have been pushed over of smaller bezel and different design. Not doing this means I’ll wait.

  2. The primary audience for the MacBook Air are Normies going to Best Buy to get a laptop for the freshman year of college. So the messaging that sales reps give people will determine the adoption rate.

  3. no bind if youre looking to buy now. theres already a surplus of very good recent used macs up for sale all over the place from people pre ordering the new M1's. great time really to buy any 2014 or newer second hand machine and ride out the next two years while you wait to buy an even beefier and more refined/re-designed apple silicon machine down the road.

  4. M1 only replaces the mid- low end stuff, price wise. M1X or whatever they call it will see the real changes. The M1 may not even support multiple external monitors.

The pro probably wins purely on cooling. The air will keep up for a minute or two and then throttle, I’m assuming.

  5. It was more marketing and typical Apple speak without details/facts to support their claims. Time will tell on this one.

  6. 4:26 Why you don't spend money on the (upcoming) pro. Because the Macbook Air M1 does now work for you all what you want for now, high graphics for games, editing 4K vids, create large PS files. Twice the battery life.
But the more interesting is, what do you need on the long term. VR/AR will be bigger and new tech gear of Apple will be announce in the upcoming years and also the specs needs to be higher to work with those files. Macbook Pro will get a new target group and more used for the heavy 3D/VR/AR/8K/16K/SFX rendering software users.

Like in 2012 was normal to have a Macbook Air to work on Office programs like Excel/Word/Powerpoint, browsing, streaming, light work in PS/LR, non-retina display. The Macbook Pro for Editing video HD/4K, compose music, gaming.
Now in 2020, Apple know the standards are higher.

I expect Apple will announce a M1X with better specs (4portUSB) for Macbook Pro 13",16" and iMac in 2Q/2021

  7. Tim Apple is redoing Jobs’ mistake of going with Motorola vs Intel. Intel will keep making faster processors. With Apples low volumes, they will be spending billions trying to keep up…Bye bye Apple.

  8. Keeping the same price is cheating the customers. The MacBook Pro and Air prices should have been cut in half, since they are not paying royalties to Intel.

  9. If this all is true…a lot of pc people will switch to Apple. Apple became suddenly a high class, high performing…budget device for the people. If all is true..a basic Macbook air competes with a high end Dell XPS. They said a basic Macbook air edits 4K..multistream! Really? That is not "hmmmmm" like you say. That would be amazing. Amazing.

  10. I honestly don't know if I should be upset that I bought a MacBook Air before they announced they were doing this at WWDC? Because it is like on the one hand, I am kind up upset that there is now a Mac where I can download content from my streaming services off line, which is the reason I bought the new iPad Air (which I am in love with because it is kind of a good middle ground between Mac and an Apple Silicon Mac). However, there is a part of me that is kind of okay with the fact that I bought a MacBook when I did for 2 reasons: First reason is that it allows the bugs to be worked out during the 2 year transition period. Another reason is that it may allow me to get an Apple Silicon MacBook once the new redesign period occurs. I don't know how to feel. What do you think?

  11. Honestly I wouldnt expect future revisions of the M1 chip to be that much better. They had the make the initial release compelling so people would make the jump from x86 to ARM. I'd bet future macs will be more iterative.. next time around the allure will probably be mini LED or a redesign rather than additional leaps from a silicon perspective.

  12. Same chip is in both the Air and the MBP. The Pro has a fan and the other doesn't. Why get the Pro with the potential noise? What about Parallels? Did it get missed?

  13. Good discussion and conclusion. I completely agree after 5 minutes you are begging Apple to take your money, after 15 minutes you’re like “hmmm”. I guess maybe an M1X will be released to rival Xeon at WWDC 2021
