So cool story my dad had a game boy original and when I was little I played it and one day I switched it on and I was greeted by a Wonderfull smell and the sight of a smoking gameboy long story short that was the second time it was turned on since 1993 sadly we threw it away and I still wish we didn’t.

  12. this is more like a look what i can do than a realistic product you would use to play for me there is more fun on doing all the asemble and instalaton than on the final product tbh is like when i restore old laptops there is no real reason to do it but i like challenges and the satisfaction of the result

  14. WARNING!!! DO NOT ORDER THIS!!! I ORDERED ALMOST 3 MONTHS AGO AND THEY NEVER SHIPPED IT!!! NUMEROUS BACK AND FORTH WITH THE COMPANY AND EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE AS TO WHY IT IS NOT SHIPPED!!! REQUESTED A REFUND AND ALL COMMUNICATION SUDDENLY STOPPED!!! I HAD TO FILE A DISPUTE WITH MY BANK TO GET MY MONEY BACK!!!

You could honestly spend 50+ euros on an RPi4, print out a case in a hobby lab and buy some generic buttons, dpad and have the same experience. 190 is wayy to expensive… For that price i could buy a low powered x86 linux embedded chip and get much more out of it as it can support x86 natively

  31. I'd imagine if the piboy came in a 8gb raspberry pi 4 model steam would run much better. as most non-windows/mac desktop os development runs on SOCs or apus 8gb ram tends to be the sweet spot right now.

Their design was based on the LCL Piboy released several years ago amazingly enough, a one man Chinese dude cut, drilled, soldered the raspberry pi and custom buttons, joystick, screen, slots into an original dmg shell. So this company did not spend countless hours making this design. Instead, they copied some dude who spent countless hours making it in his basement.

  40. i would name it SteamBoy, but there's this japanese anime titled steam boy. And i don't wanna be sued by the animation studio and especially…. *whispers nintendo….

  41. This is indeed exciting, but everytime i see a raspberry pi retro console kits i wonder if it would be possible to make one that could work with original carts? That would be awesome.

  44. What is that game called the one you were playing where the character is around a pool of blood and then all of a sudden a shadow appears behind him and he pulls out a sword and slices it. Much appreciated!
