This look so much worse than Gibli’s famous hand drawn art style
Don’t get me wrong. I’m open to the idea of a 3D Ghibli movie, but this honestly just looks bad
I think the complete lack of motion blur makes the movement look very strange ?
I want to give this movie a chance but I agree with most, the animation isn't working for me as a first impression. It just lacks the emotion and beauty of their usual works. It feels plastic.
I adored Kiki's delivery service and this has a similar vibe so maybe ill love it but I can't deny I really wish it were in 2d.
You know, as a tv animated film, the animation is not too bad on my eyes. By the way, Earwig and the Witch did aired on TV in Japan only.
Yehey studio ghibli is back
Ghibli's style translates oddly weird to 3D imo
Still probably going to watch it but like… huh
From the creators of several of the most Incredible and iconic movies in all of animation…..uh….this
to be fair, this will probably be amazing in the animation department and it could be really enjoyable when it comes to story. I just don't like the idea of the best 2D animation studio going in full CGI direction
I can’t wait to go see this ! It looks so cool and clean especially the facial expressions .
The Hex Girls anyone?
Title reminds me of Hedwig and the Angry Inch?
This is the wrong side of animation, turn around.
I fucking hate 3dcg garbo this is the beginning of the end for ghibli studiis?
3D or not, Ghibli movies still look great ?
Honestly I’m so excited to watch this. I don’t even mind about the animation. I mean, I’m primarily interested because of the Richard E. Grant character, so ?
That being said, from what I read on an early review, I know the ending is unsatisfactory. I’ve heard it’s too abrupt. The book’s ending was like that too. I just hope I won’t be too disappointed.
At least they’re trying something new
Can't wait to watch it!
The animation looks cool! Just because there's not the normal style of subsurface scattering on the skin doesn't mean it's low quality. it's just a different aesthetic choice in line with the way skin is normally colored in anime.
This looks like the Backyardigans
People are shitting on the animation and style but personally I like it a lot
Okay, I've got to admit the animation doesn't look as bad as I thought it was gonna be. But it's still so different.
I'll still watch it, as the plot looks Okay.
Looks good although I am gonna miss the old 2d animation
Okay im looking forward to this. I mean I do prefer 2D animation, but the 3D animation really isn't bad at all, like its pretty Damn good. I also already like the main character Olivia I think. I'm also curious about what will happen. I don't think that it'll be as amazing as Ponyo or Spirited Away, but I'm sure that it'll be Damn good. Better than most of Disney's stuff in recent years anyway. I really hope that people give this a chance, and don't just ignore it because oh no its different and experimental.
I don't understand what everyone is so upset about! While this film might 'look' different, it doesn't look bad: the characters look cute, the plot looks very ghibli, ect.
Well, it's way better than Ronja…
I'm excited to watch this!!
damn even in 3D they manage to make something unique to other 3D animation we're used to. the lower framerate feels deliberate, almost like claymation?? hyped
I watched this trailer in Japanese subtitles never knew there was a English one oof also in the Japanese version it said it was a prize for a dog show or some thing not a love potion.
Listen I love Studio Ghibili but whoah! This animation is killing me. I'll still watch it but…
I already want it to arrive on February 3 yay !!! ^^ – ya quiero que LLegue el 3 de Febrero yay !!!^^
The 3d animation looks so bad, like something off the Disney channel for 2 year olds. What were they thinking? Ghibli has always looked down on Pixar I feel like, but Pixar hasn't made a movie that looked this bad since… Toy Story? haha
Everyone in the comments is complaining about the 3D animation and as someone who isn't a fan of that , I love it in this movie and I would rather watching it like this that 2D. The colors are perfect in my opinion.
Not everything 3D is less superior than 2D, plus it's less work for the animators who still work months even for 3D.
Looking forward to watch this.
Earwig and the Witch is fabulous and way better than Disney’s Raya and The Last Dragon!
Lupin the Third the film was fantastic and it was 3D animated, I have no doubts this will be great as well.
The hand-drawn stuff is better imo, but I’ll watch this because it looks okay.
I think the 3D animation looks fine for a foreign animation studio who's just going to do this for the first time. It also reminds of those simpler 3D animation shorts from 2000s. This will be good.
Y’all seriously are sleeping on this this looks great!! Give it a shot!
im still going to watch it but like, >:|
It's directed by Goro Miyazaki so yeah….
I read Farwing and the witch
The animation looks smooth enough.
Atrocious choice for the animation, why on Gods earth they would divert from tradition… for this…. is beyond me.
This would of been way more beautiful in 2d form, but I will still watch it regardless. It looks like it might have a nice plot!
Studio Ghibli and Kacey Musgraves?! Sign me up!!!
1:13 in this asshole
The dub is lovely! Very natural and the British accents are so very welcome.
It's a ghibli film, why am I not feeling any kind of whimsical fun radiating from the trailer alone, that's almost always a staple (ik some of their films lack magic and I like them as well), it might be the switch to cg but I'm gonna probably skip it
While I do wish they had used better textures I do hope this film is an opportunity for them to study how to bake in the Ghibli vibes into a 3d medium if that means more creators get the chance to put their stories out there.
