Joe looks at the NES and arcade versions of Trojan in the first part of this summer series examining the history of Capcom. Trojan was one of the first home games developed internally at Capcom, but how does it stack up against their own arcade version? Arcade footage captured from an unmodified 60GB US PS3 running HDMI out. NES footage captured from an A/V Famicom with the HiDefNES mod running HDMI out.

Well, it looks like I may have been wrong. An astute commenter pointed out that Commando was developed by Capcom and was released a few months before Trojan on the Famicom.
The NES port of Ghosts 'n Goblins isn't favorably remembered?
I love the thumbnail very creative
Trojan para smash bros. Ultimate ….ya!
The arcade version really gives me a Double Dragon vibe, but if DD was an action platformer rather than a beat em up
WOW! They had Lupin III's Japanese seiyuu do the commercial for the Famicom version! That's awesome!
i loved the NES Trojan 1v1 mode… me and my brothers and friend actually had a tournament complete with championship belts! if they included the 1v1 in the arcade it could've spawned the fighting game craze earlier.
Trojan and Earl
I can confirm that capcom didn't develop the dos port. it was instead made by Pasific data works, who did most of the US computer ports of Capcom games.
The first game i bought with my own money and i love it. The arcade version is terrible. To brutal. Nice video and greatings from austria.
Yo tis game krakd my whip,
It was hard as hellfire,
Tiger road was mi Jam
I like the look of tis game bt yo when want to smash the game til its truly game over
Trojan was one of my favorite games on my Nintendo back in the day! Don't think I ever played it in an arcade or even saw one there. Cool to see. 🙂
Oh yes, the first time i played the arcade version of this game on capcom's arcade collection i thought it was gonna be fun. Then i got my ass handed to me sign seal delivered. Still i like the game.
The time I miss are shooter games, where you have to use the power gun to play.
@On the Stick Why Japan always do a better job when it comes to video game commercials?
AWESOME vide6! One of my absolute favorites on the NES, it has such a cool premise and a pretty cool aesthetic, been playing it for decades but never knew anything at all about the history! Thanks for the endeavour!
Passed out the NES game for a rental several times because the arcade game was hard. Ended up liking the NES port after getting it for a few bucks for the very reasons you mentioned here. This would have been more suited to a gritty sequel/reboot instead of bionic commando 2009.
13:37 I might just have a new favorite Engrish phrase.
Nice didn't knew that capcom had history with irem.
One of the first Capcom ports of the 16-bit era, eh?
Ah, what a good way to put the final touches on this little season. I won't put up a fight regarding that choice. =3
(I am gonna sound so stupid if I got this wrong.)
Excellent vid, well done sir.
The Capcom Arcade Cabinet is also available on Xbox One via backwards-compatibility this generation. I suggest you pick up a copy . It's very much worth it.
I think I might have to give this one another look. Great video.
Trojan arcade is just brutal. So much so, that it's not a lot of fun. I was actually able to beat Achilles by just walking up to him and spamming the sword, thank god. The NES version is far better, and kinda underrated if you ask me.
I never knew Trojan was a port of an arcade game. First time I see the arcade version. Good pick Joe!
Next obscure games will be an unreleased Capcom title? Titan Warriors? That would be great, I've never seen anybody speaking about that particular game anywhere. Obscure indeed!
I like the addition of the Japanese ad
You gonna play Willow or U.N Squadron?
There was someone who did a video on all seven NES Capcom games with the laser grid boxes, but I can't find it anywhere. Do you know where it is? Also, I thought "Commando" was the first Capcom game for the NES developed by Capcom themselves.
The summer 2018 Capcom chronology! YES!!
